Welsh Cakes from "Pop" Thornell

2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
5 oz. sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg

Mix dry ingredients together.

Add 1 egg to 1/4 cup milk and add to dry ingredients.

Add 1 square butter - cut in like pastry

1/4 cup currants

Roll out dough to about 1/2" thick.  Cut into circles.  Place in 250-300 degree ungreased fry pan.  Brown slightly, approximately 10 minutes each side.  Roll in sugar.


P.S.  If you pray hard and cut the cakes small, you will be able to feed 5,000 Welshmen a tasty dessert!
